Issue 15 Page 2
A Villainous note from the Artist
Greetings Villains! You may or may not have read Nathan’s disclaimer for this issue. I can confirm that it isn’t for the faint of heart. I am also pretty sure that if you are on e of the many readers who have read VILLAIN since day 1 then this moment won’t phase you. If anything, you’re rooting for it. Why? Because you’re all a bunch of sick, twisted fucks! Just like us! If you know anything about our character, you know that there’s a moment when in his mind he considers himself a villain. So far throughout the series, we have seen Matthew struggle with the choice that he has made though it seems that these hard choices are becoming much easier to make. It was apparent when he took out the thugs where he first discovered the warehouse in issue 4, and after he dismantles Pride and Eddie Wizard in issue 8 and the beginning of Issue 9 we see his struggle. We have been waiting for the reckoning. The moment where we find out why and when Matthew decides that all bets are off. That the path he has laid out for himself is the path that will lead him to where he is now in the present timeline. The path where he kills all the heroes. The path where he will finally get the revenge he set out to get, but when he does get what he wants is it ever enough? I haven’t met ONE villain, who after they achieve a set goal, stopped being a VILLAIN; stopped wanting more. After all power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
